Danielle Adney

Danielle is originally from Golden, CO and is currently a PhD candidate at CSU. Her current research focuses on the role dromedary camels play in the transmission of Middle Eastern respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV). When you can’t find her in the lab you can find her enjoying climbing or camping. Favorite beer: IPAs in the summer, stouts in the winter


Hannah Romo

Hannah is currently a PhD candidate at Colorado State University. She studies the transmission and evolution dynamics of newly emergent West Nile virus strains in Europe and spends most of her time in the lab playing with either birds or mosquitoes. Originally from Texas, Hannah enjoys hiking and camping in the Rockies. Favorite beer: Stouts and porters, all the time!

Dr. Tony Shountz

Dr. Tony Schountz is interested in understanding immune responses of reservoir hosts, particularly rodents and bats, of emerging zoonotic viruses that typically lead to apathogenic infections in the reservoirs, the role of immunopathology during viral infection, and vaccine development and immunomodulatory therapeutics for zoonotic viruses.




Kassi Willingham

Kassi is a master's student in the Mathiason Lab studying the transmission of prion disease and Chronic Wasting Disease. She is also an adjunct instructor at Front Range Community College, teaching General Microbiology. Kassi loves teaching and spreading the word about science. Originally from Wyoming, she love spending time with her dogs and eating delicious food! Favorite beer : Kolsch
